Achieving My Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals Certification
Last week, I officially earned the Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals certification, a milestone I’m really proud of and one that marks the beginning of my journey into the world of cloud computing.
The Learning Journey
To prepare, I followed the Microsoft Learning Course AZ-900T00-A: Introduction to Cloud Infrastructure. The course is neatly structured around three core pillars of cloud:
- Cloud Concepts – The foundations of cloud computing, shared responsibility models, and understanding the benefits of cloud adoption.
- Azure Architecture & Services – An overview of Azure’s global infrastructure and the range of services spanning compute, networking, storage, and databases.
- Azure Management & Governance – Tools like Azure Portal, Azure CLI, ARM templates, cost management, monitoring, and policy.
I worked through the material thoroughly and took handwritten notes throughout, which really helped reinforce the concepts.
Practice, Practice, Practice
After completing the course, I moved on to practice tests to measure my understanding. I started with two free resources:
Both sites offered mock questions that aligned closely with the course content. They helped me identify weak spots and clarify topics I wasn’t fully confident about.
To push things further, I eventually purchased an additional practice course that included several full mock exams. This repetition made a huge difference, I became more comfortable with the exam format and learned how to approach scenario-based questions more effectively.
My final step was taking the official practice exam on Microsoft Learn. That really tied everything together and confirmed that I was ready.
What I Gained
Even though I had only limited hands-on experience with cloud technologies before this, I already had a general understanding of the concepts. This course and the certification process significantly expanded that foundation. I now have a much deeper understanding of cloud computing as a whole and, more importantly, of Azure’s ecosystem and how it all fits together.
Earning this certification was both motivating and rewarding, and I’m excited to keep building on this knowledge as I grow in my cloud journey.
